Back to Bangkok

Another little plane ride and we were back in Bangkok. We got a taxi to our hotel which was different from the first. The Grand Hyatt. And boy was it grand. It was in the nicer part of Bangkok, near Siam Square and it was the swishest hotel any of us had ever stayed in. Rich and I did feel a bit odd checkng in with our smelly backbacks, but the staff didn't bat an eyelid and the porter took our stuff to our rooms. The minibar was extremely expensive though so we didn't touch that!! We were so tired that when we arrived we just crashed for a few hours. Then we got a taxi to Khoasan road as Chris and Rich were due a fitting at the tailors. After having some food we were all pretty beat so we got some provisions and got a tuk tuk back to the hotel, that was a scary journey with all 4 of us squashed in but it was great pulling up outside the Grand Hyatt in a little scabby tuk tuk!!!

We had access to films on the TV so the 4 of us piled onto the bed and settled down to watch Jarhead, but about 30mins in it got all messed up and the staff couldnt' do anything about it.....boooo! I know it's sad that we were all in Bangkok but chose to stay in and watch a film, but when you're in a swish hotel like that, you don't really want to leave it!!

The next couple of days were taken up with suit fittings and shopping, mainly window shopping in the siam square area and lunches and beer. When you're wandering around Khoasan road you're constantly offered tuk tuks and taxis and stuff. But when the tuk tuk drivers offer a tuk tuk, they also offer ping pong too. Now, Bangkok is famous for it's 'ping pong' shows and so we couldn't not go and see one, so when a tuk tuk driver said, "tuk tuk?, ping pong?", we said yes!! I won't go into detail about it but needless to say it was a very 'entertaining' night. It was really expensive to get in and to buy beers and it was quite embarrasing to be there as we were sat right next to the stage but it was fun. No cameras were allowed but Chris was 'given' a nice little souvenir to remind him of it (tee hee!!!)

And all too soon it was our last night. Rich and Chris picked up their suits which they were very happy with and we had a very nice evening of dinner and drinks until we were kicked out of the bar (they were having some sort of private evening as the thai people weren't kicked out, just us wesnteners!). Rich and I were staying at a different hotel on the last night as we were starting a tour through Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) the following day. So we said goodbye to Chris and Kate (sniff) as they got into their taxi, and Rich and I eventually got to bed around 3am!!

We had a really great 10 days with Chris and Kate and it was sooo good to see them. Made us realise how much we really were missing home. Probably a good thing as when the day comes that we do have to go home we'll be ready and excited about it and won't be sad about the end of our trip!
